Lenny Posso‘s traveled the ranks of NYC dance music culture over the past two decades. From a dancer to a DJ/producer, to an event promoter and label manager, he’s given his pushed and relished in all things techno, and in recent years has set his focus on Thema Recordings. 30+ releases deep in techno and house, the label has expanded to the harder-grooved Chronicle sublabel featuring Terrence Dixon as Population One on its first outing.

Posso’s mix for D-Node features, as usual, some of the highest quality techno, and he leads into his label’s own Population One track in fine form: The beautiful Aphex-ambient excursion of Function’s “Inter” about 24 minutes in transitions to a trippy Mills loop via Mika Vainio as Ø, at which point the kick of his sublabel’s latest creeps its way into the mix. Back in April of 2009 Regis and Function performed an unforgettable set for the Los Angeles crowd at Interface on a lineup including Silent Servant for the full Sandwell District experience. Longtime subscribers to our D-Node podcast who missed the event had the opportunity to hear the recording. In anticipation of Function’s appearance at Prime this Thursday we’re resurfacing the set as D-Node 122.

ABOUT PRIME:
Prime is the new above ground series by Droid Behavior. Our aim is to provide internationally renown techno house minimal and crossover talent to the city of Los Angeles on a monthly basis.

ABOUT Function:
One of techno’s true underground heroes, Function, real name Dave Sumner, has been DJing and making music for over 15 years. Hailing from New York, he was seduced by techno music when Jeff Mills held a residency (as well as his own first) at the Limelight in the early 90s. Dave started to produce music and from the mid-90s onwards, put out music on Damon Wild’s Synewave and his own infrastructure imprint. Together with Karl O’Connor aka Regis he worked as Portion Reform, putting out uncompromising music on Downwards and becoming the only non-Birmingham producer to release on the label. More recently, Dave moved to Berlin and, still working with O’Connor, set up the acclaimed Sandwell District imprint.
