DROID BLOG TAG - Los Angeles

Appropriately sharing his name with the master craftsman of Greek mythology, Daedelus has become a revered figure of LA's electronic music scene. When we teamed up with Friendly Integration for the March edition of PRIME, we knew it was the perfe...

Los Angeles native Alland Byallo became a central figure of the techno scene in San Francisco before his recent move to Berlin. A sought-after DJ playing international club gigs, he's also been making his way into DJ crates around the world over the past 8 years or so with his minimal and tech-house tracks, many on his own Nightlight Music as well as Poker Flat. He's also a driving force behind [KONTROL], the Bay Area's premiere techno event. For Droid he's provided a two-hour set with a ...

This past summer we invited techno star and CLR label head Chris Liebing back to Los Angeles for the 33rd installment in our legendary event series Interface. Needless to say to he sonically destroyed the dancefloor. Chris was generous enough to let us use this rare recording for D-Node. To acquire the longer experience subscribe to the...

"There will be dozens of parties scattered across Southern California this weekend, but if we had to pick just one it would probably be Sublevel Space Explorer's New Year's Eve and 10th anniversary event, featuring three of LA's best: Doc Martin and Droid Behavior residents Raiz and Drumcell." - from residentadvisor.net This year's theme at Sublevel Space Explorer is Unification. LA house don, Doc Martin has asked Droid residents Raiz and Drumcell to join in the sonic cu-ration of his 10th...

LA techno stalwart John Tejada has been releasing quality techno and tech-house since the mid '90s. Even with a diverse array of collaborations and off-genre experiments his productions prove reliably excellent, and his latest LP for Kompakt, "Parabolas," is a flowing, rounded suite of delicately-treated sound, a few old-school nods brought into the near future, and dangerous hooks.
Tejada's reliability extends to the decks, making him an in-demand DJ for those who recognize live talent...

Jeff Witscher makes electronic music. This includes ambient soundscapes, thrash, noise, layers of arpeggiated synthesizers, and much in between. Abelard Scout, Impregnable, Secret Abuse, Marble Sky, and most famously Rene Hell are a few of his monikers. His list of collaborations and groups is longer.
A few weeks ago I had the chance to hear Witscher perform as Rene Hell, the name under which he's released two excellent albums (The Terminal Symphony, 2011; Porcelain Opera, 2010) on Type, a...
