We contacted Jeff for a Q&A, and after the delays of moving into a basement, “jamming all day & drinking all night,” and apparently scoring some Rothko paintings (interesting), he delivered his responses.

From his earliest demos to his current position as a key figure in the global techno scene, Perc (aka Ali Wells) has taken the established forms of the music he loves and twisted them into something new and fresh. Building up successful relationships with scene-leading labels such as Drumcode, Ovum, Kompakt and CLR whilst unleashing a strong run of releases on his own Perc Trax label has seen Perc’s influence and support grow even further. With each release his sonic experimentation has taken another leap forward without losing sight of the dance floor. As a DJ and live act Perc has covered all of Europe plus multiple tours of USA, Canada, Mexico, South Africa and Japan. This year his rigorous tour continues in support of his latest full length entitled WICKER + STEEL which was released on his own imprint Perc Trax earlier this year.

Truncate is David Flores, best known to the world as Droid Recordings artist Audio Injection. Flores started his “Truncate” project this year to focus on deeper, darker grooves, and his new releases have quickly been championed up by the likes of Klock, Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, and many others. With releases from himself and artists like Emptyset, Sleeparchive, and Developer, this mix exhibits his current direction. Raíz and Truncate will release a set of collaborative projects later this year.
