The young talent from France known as Octave emerged onto the techno scene in 2008 with a track on the Minus compilation “Sounds From Can Elles.” A string of releases and remixes on labels Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Momentum, and Android Muziq got him noticed by the industry and incited a series of European tours and showcases for his own imprint Silent Steps, a few of which included Droid residents Drumcell and Audio Injection. This week Octave provides a live PA of his latest work for the D-node constituency as well as some background on 5 of his selections.

Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo. Much in tune with the music Entity pushed, Developer was influenced by the artists they carried and shared their ideals. After a few years, Entity disbanded and Developer went on to continue his passion producing, performing and promoting. In 2005, he started the concept, production and design label Modularz which has since gained the support of DJ Deep, Sigha and Jonas Kopp with releases and remixes by Silent Servant, Santiago Salazar, Truncate and Developer himself. LA techno stalwart John Tejada has been releasing quality techno and tech-house since the mid ’90s. Even with a diverse array of collaborations and off-genre experiments his productions prove reliably excellent, and his latest LP for Kompakt, “Parabolas,” is a flowing, rounded suite of delicately-treated sound, a few old-school nods brought into the near future, and dangerous hooks.
