Dutch DJ/producer Dimi Angélis has made a name for himself as half of the live duo Counterpart with Jeroen Search, with whom he’s released music on A&S Records. He’s also behind Amsterdam’s monthly underground Grasp parties. His set for D-Node progresses through a few moods, from a spacey, Millsian shuffle to a more insistent, jacking slam as well as deep synth explorations that linger in harder territory, all peppered with a few of the DJ’s originals.

Young Italian DJ/producer Claudio PRC is one of techno’s enthusiastic explorers. He combines an inspired, informed passion for classic techno with a productive interest in the legacy of electroacoustic experimentation. Combining the streamlined with the raw, the repetitive with the unpredictable, his music is a study in sonic and tonal combination.

Claudio’s set to follow up a productive 2011 this March with a new album for Prologue, an abyssal dive called “Inner State,” sampled below.

He took some time to share with us his thoughts on the techno scene, his own progress as an artist, and keeping dance music stimulating.

Los Angeles native Alland Byallo became a central figure of the techno scene in San Francisco before his recent move to Berlin. A sought-after DJ playing international club gigs, he’s also been making his way into DJ crates around the world over the past 8 years or so with his minimal and tech-house tracks, many on his own Nightlight Music as well as Poker Flat. He’s also a driving force behind [KONTROL], the Bay Area’s premiere techno event. For Droid he’s provided a two-hour set with a diverse tracklist spanning dance music’s genres.

Manchester-based duo AnD have been on a hot streak this past year with releases on at least seven different labels, including Black Sun Records, Horizontal Ground, and their own Inner Surface Music. In the spirit of techno’s originators and the UK innovators they join, AnD explore depth and tone with bass-oriented, spacious productions, an aesthetic reflected in the following mix for D-Node.

Henning Baer is one of the founders behind Berlin’s leading Grounded Theory parties, and as a producer turned heads last year with his releases on K209 including work with Sawf and Milton Bradley, which he discusses in-depth in an interview with TEA. Coincidentally we ran into Henning during our last European tour. One night while in Berlin, i went out for a late night döner and giant vanilla coke. Upon returning to the lobby of my hotel one of the bar staff told me i could not bring outside food to the lounge. I grumbled off back to my room and finished my dinner. My brother stepped out for a night cap and he was recognized by the bar keep as a member of Raíz. It turns out the bar keep was Henning Baer and he just so happened to be on shift. He apologized and invited us to Grounded Theory that weekend with a special appearance by Ben Klock. We went, we saw, he conquered. Aside from curating the excellent club nights, Henning Baer is heading into a bright 2012 as producer and performer. He presents this mix for D-Node 144, filled with a dark, driving strain of contemporary techno.
