D-Node 132: Octave | Silent Steps

The young talent from France known as Octave emerged onto the techno scene in 2008 with a track on the Minus compilation “Sounds From Can Elles.” A string of releases and remixes on labels Nachtstrom Schallplatten, Momentum, and Android Muziq got him noticed by the industry and incited a series of European tours and showcases for his own imprint Silent Steps, a few of which included Droid residents Drumcell and Audio Injection. This week Octave provides a live PA of his latest work for the D-node constituency as well as some background on 5 of his selections.

Octave – Ripped
This track has a special meaning for me. First track I did in this kind of sound, pretty simple, straight up Techno with big atmosphere and hypnotic synth loop. It took me on a new way for producing, more Techno, with a progressive build but a strong kick and bassline, and definitely turned to the dancefloor. And it is the first track I decided to put on my new album coming soon.

The Noisemaker – Utopia (Octave Remix)
Really had much fun working on this remix for The Noisemaker. He’s an amazing producer and a real hardware fanatic, and very talented creator of sounds… metallics, industrials which are really inspiring to make deep and freaky atmospheres. Really like to introduce my set with it, brings immediately a good energy with its intensity and bassline I think.

Dehix – Silent Sequences (Octave Remix)
Was great to work on this one, I fell in love with the big synth loops and rhythmic elements. Tried to get it quite progressive till the break and then launch it with machine rifle loopy percs.

Octave & Dolby-D – Dattack
One of the tracks present on my first collaboration EP with Dolby-D. Very energetic, straight up Techno between a mind blowing vocal, groovy percs and pumping kick and baseline.

Octave – Tunnel 204
Main track of my first album released last year. I still really love to play that track, which works very well on the dancefloor. I think this track has something special, the groove is really complete, attracting and supported by a large atmosphere and I think this creates a good intensity.

There are tons of good tv shows to choose from to say it’s the best. No matter what is said though, there is no doubt that this show ranks in the top 10 of all of them. Yes, there are shows that are a bit older but this one still has charm. There is comedy, love, and a little darkness, easily moving it up to the top. They just don’t make them like this anymore.
